About the Abel Santamaria Airport Santa Clara
The Abel Santamaria airport (Aeropuerto Abel Santamaria) is a small-sized international airport located near the city of Santa Clara, the capital city of the Villa Clara province in Cuba.
It serves mainly the popular resort destination of Cayo Santa Maria, Cayo Ensenachos and Cayo Las Brujas and also the city of Santa Clara in the central part of Cuba. It is named in honor of Abel Santamaria Cuadrado (1927-1953) who was an important player in the Cuban Revolutionary movement.
Its a small airport with limited facilities. In 2008 the airport was completely remodeled and expanded to meet the growing demand for the aforementioned islands, located in Cuba’s Jardines del Rey Archipelago allowing the airport to receive three times more passengers than previously. The airport is also base to Cuban Mig-23BN fighters from the 14th Tactical Regiment of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, which includes helipads for military helicopters.

The La Granjita is a beautiful almost rustic environment oozing cleanliness and attention to detail. The Hotel ideally located to get to know the City of Santa Clara and also enjoy nature, swimming, fresh air at the same time. The Hotel is ideal for visiting other locations in the Villa Clara Province of Cuba like Remedios or even the Jardines del Rey Islands
At La Granjita the price is fair and the location is excellent to see everything in and around the area it is an amazing stay and very cozy
La Granjita is in an excellent location with all services like; pool, main lobby, the beach, and the buffet bar all in close proximity. You will be greeted with a bottle of rum and very clean and comfortable beds. The showers were great and the water pressure was good.
La Granjita pool is a perfect size, divided in half by small bridge that creates a very nice atmosphere. The chairs are comfortable, and always enough for everyone.
Food at La Granjita is of a good variety for every meal, staff is polite and friendly. The La Granjita Coralia bar is located in the main lobby is quite busy day and night; great coffee, fruit juices and alcoholic beverages are all available. There is another bar at the snack bar next to the swimming pool.

Hotel Mascotte is a renovated historic old dwelling where Cuba’s national hero José Martí once lived. As a no frills accommodation with warm hospitality Hotel Mascotte hits the spot for all guests. For those interested in architectural details the hotel is the classic Cuban structure and remains in excellent shape despite the passing of time. The rooms facing the square are great for watching people and soaking in the ambience but, especially in the evenings, a few neighboring bars can transmit a quite a bit of noise, nothing to complain about but worth noting if you prefer one of the quieter rooms on the other side.
Hotel Mascotte Remedios Villa Clara has been called a “gem in the heart of Cuba” and is truly a beauty; old world ambience, well-kept building with high ceilings, antique furniture and wooden windows that open overlooking the town square. The staff are absolutely delectable and could not do enough for us, the service was friendly and unobtrusive. If you are looking for a sense of the real Cuba then the Hotel Mascotte is highly recommend.
Remedios town holds, on December 24, a fireworks festival which has been going strong for over 300 years. If you are in Cuba over Christmas then this is must see event. During this event the city center is filled with mechanized floats, filled the canyons of fireworks, street vendors and carnival rides.
Over all the Hotel Mascotte is beautiful, with high ceilings and recently renovated, its spacious. Rooms have a minibar, large bathroom, and comfortable beds. TV offers an assortment of international channels also.
Breakfast is included in the room rate and is buffet style with an average assortment of breads, fruits and cereals. Eggs are available in any way you choose and are a highlight of the breakfast buffet.
Hotel Mascotte Villa Clara is a great place and well worth the trip. Guests should consider staying for about 3 days if the intention is simply to soak up the city and look around. This is not a hotel to spend your whole stay in Cuba at though. Perfect stopover type hotel and well worth a visit we enjoyed our time at Hotel Mascotte.
